Happy New Year!
It has been wonderful welcoming all the children back and seeing them settle into our classroom routines.
This term we have begun giving out lots of class dojo points already by following our school rules of being safe, ready and respectful throughout the school day.
So far this term, we have started in English by exploring the short story, Undertow, from Shaun Tan’s ‘Tales from Outer Suburbia’. We will look at the features of what makes an effective and concise story for an intended audience to enjoy. This will be an exciting explorative journey working towards writing our own short stories of a mysterious nature.
As mathematicians, we will begin by focusing on multiplication and division. All children should be concentrating and working hard to know their times tables up to 12 x 12 consistently. In maths we are using the scheme, Power Maths, which builds in small steps to deepen our mathematical understanding.
