Computing Curriculum Intent Statement
At Our Lady’s, we aim to develop pupils’ experience and understanding of Computing, preparing them for jobs of the future. We want them to have the life-skills that will enable them to understand the function of and purpose of computer science, be digitally literate and independent users of new computing technologies. We want pupils to develop their creativity, resilience and problem solving skills in order to access and make use of the wider global community of technology.
Computing Curriculum Implementation Statement
Pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, being responsible users, how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. A concise programme of study is in place across the school for Computing including Online Safety.
Computing
Created by subject experts, using the latest pedagogical research and teacher feedback Our Lady’s follows the Teach Computing Scheme. Built around an innovative progression framework where computing content has been organised into interconnected networks. Teach Computing provides a clear progression of skills from Year 1 through to Year 6. Computing in the Early Years, is taught through the Early Learning Goal (ELG) Understanding of the World (UW). Our Lady’s, follow Barefoot Computing, proving cross curricular learning based on Computational Thinking.

Elements of the computing curriculum are also taught through other subjects at Our Lady’s. It is used as a tool to enhance learning throughout our overall curriculum.
Online Safety
At Our Lady’s, pupils from Early Years to Year 6 are specifically taught Online Safety following progression guidance from the award winning, National Online Safety (The National College). Developed in line with and to support statutory policy and recommended guidance, including:
